IT would be the final piece in the resurrection of the Bulldogs - a return to their spiritual home Belmore Sportsground.
And the dream of all Doggies fans could become a reality by the end of this season. Long-term plans for Belmore to resume hosting first grade matches have begun, with club officials holding talks with Canterbury Council this week.
After announcing a three-year, $2 million major sponsorship with Strathfield Group yesterday, Bulldogs CEO Todd Greenberg said moves were under way for the club to return to Belmore - for training at least - possibly by year's end.
Unhappy with scheduling arrangements at Sydney Olympic Park, the Bulldogs want to return their training and administrative base to Belmore as soon as possible.
Greenberg last night revealed a vision to play "one or two NRL games" at the suburban venue from 2015 onwards.
