Back to Belmore has praised City of Canterbury Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek for his dedication to raising awareness about homelessness through the second annual Mayor's Lights Out Sleepout, to be held at Belmore Sports Ground from 7pm on Thursday, 18 July to 7am on Friday, 19 July.
This year marks the first time the Lights Out Sleepout will take place at Belmore Sports Ground, following the success of the inaugural event at Bankstown Airport in 2023, which raised more than $30,000 for vital services supporting those in need across the Canterbury-Bankstown area.
Patron Luke Brailey commended the initiative and the impact it will have.
“This is a wonderful initiative that highlights an important issue that needs to be addressed,” Mr Brailey said.
“It's amazing to see this historic venue being used to shine a light on homelessness and support those who are doing it tough in our community.”
The Mayor's Lights Out Sleepout will raise funds for Mission Australia, Maronites on Mission Australia (M.O.M) and Brothers In Need, continuing the community's commitment to helping those experiencing homelessness.
