With urgent calls for Federal and State Government support reaching a critical point, Back to Belmore will next week launch an online advertising campaign to help secure the future of Belmore Sports Ground before the effects of long-term neglect and dilapidation become irreversible.
The campaign, titled "Save Belmore Sports Ground to Save Local Sport", will feature a series of short videos shared via YouTube. The initiative aims to raise public awareness of the growing deterioration at the venue and the vital need for government intervention.
Back to Belmore Operations Manager Steven Cataldi said the campaign is the latest step in the organisation's long-running advocacy for a full-scale restoration of the historic ground.
"The ad campaign we are launching next week will tell the real story of what Belmore was like in its glory days, and what it has sadly become in 2010," Mr Cataldi said.
"Belmore Sports Ground remains a symbolic and practical heart of sport in the Canterbury-Bankstown region. We sincerely hope these ads will strike a chord and spark the innovation we need to restore this amazing sporting facility for the next generation of sports players. Their future depends on it."
Since its inception in 2005, Back to Belmore has worked tirelessly to prevent the decline of Belmore Sports Ground and re-establish it as a central hub for both professional rugby league and community sport.
