Back to Belmore has welcomed growing signs of federal engagement in the future of Belmore Sports Ground following the presence of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Treasurer Wayne Swan in the Bulldogs' corporate box at ANZ Stadium during yesterday's match against the Brisbane Broncos.

The high-profile attendance of the nation's two most senior political figures comes less than seven weeks after Back to Belmore President Luke Brailey met with Bulldogs CEO Todd Greenberg to encourage the club to pursue federal funding opportunities to help revitalise the fabled suburban ground.

Mr Brailey said the development was a significant and encouraging step forward.

"This is exactly the kind of momentum we hoped to see when we first raised the prospect of federal engagement with Mr Greenberg back in July," Mr Brailey said.

"To see the Prime Minister and Treasurer taking such an active interest - less than two months later - is a remarkable show of support, and a strong signal that Belmore's future is firmly on the national radar."

While no formal funding commitments have yet been made, Mr Brailey said the dialogue alone represents real progress.

"It's a step in the right direction, and a very positive sign for everyone who cares about Belmore," he said.

"We've always believed that restoring this venue was not just a sporting issue, but a community one - and it's heartening to see that message starting to resonate in Canberra."

Back to Belmore remains committed to advocating for the long-term redevelopment of Belmore Sports Ground and stands ready to support the Bulldogs in any discussions with the Federal Government going forward.
