We must always remember that Belmore Sports Ground is the spiritual home of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and from a community point of view, we would love nothing more than to see the Bulldogs play some NRL home games on their traditional hallowed turf.
Over the past six years, Back to Belmore Inc. has successfully put the issue of Belmore Sports Ground back on the agenda, but we recognise that it is the responsibility of the Bulldogs Rugby League Football Club to fully examine the prospect of playing NRL matches at Belmore.
Belmore Sports Ground is one of the most beautiful sporting facilities in the world and has been the scene of some of the most memorable moments in the sporting history of the Canterbury-Bankstown district. It is not only one of Sydney's premier sporting venues, but also an asset of great historic and cultural significance.
We are optimistic that the Bulldogs will continue to work towards making Belmore a facility that meets the NRL criteria. Back to Belmore Inc. will fully support the Bulldogs with these endeavours.
Our organisation was founded on the idea that restoring Belmore Sports Ground is necessary to meet the current and future needs of the Canterbury-Bankstown district's aspiring sports players. In accordance with that concept, we will continue to passionately promote the development of local sport and athletes in the Canterbury-Bankstown district and the redevelopment of Belmore Sports Ground.
This redevelopment will see the historic venue transformed from a facility largely unfit for community use into a top class multi-purpose sporting venue combining elite athletics, sports training facilities and opportunities for local sporting groups in the community, underpinning the future of the Canterbury-Bankstown district.
