Following the resounding success of last month's historic NRL return to Belmore Sports Ground, the historic venue is once again preparing to host a premiership game, with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs set to face the Cronulla Sharks this Sunday.

The previous match, held on 29 June, drew a crowd of 16,764 and generated an estimated $500,000 in local economic activity - giving nearby restaurants, cafes and retailers a significant boost. This weekend's game is expected to deliver similar benefits, reinforcing Belmore's place as a viable and valuable venue for top-tier rugby league.

Back to Belmore President Luke Cevolani said the return of regular NRL fixtures to the precinct has brought tremendous joy to the local community.

"Belmore holds a very special place in the hearts of so many people across the Canterbury-Bankstown district," Mr Cevolani said.

"You can see it in the turnout, the atmosphere, and the buzz around Burwood Road. The community has embraced these games with open arms - and the result is a stronger local economy and a renewed sense of pride."

Vice President Steven Cataldi said the folow-on effect from the June match was extraordinary.

"Shops were full, the streets were alive, and there was a real energy you could feel throughout the whole area," Mr Cataldi said.

"It's not just about rugby league - it's about what these events mean to families, to businesses, and to the identity of this proud community."

The resurgence of Belmore Sports Ground is the culmination of a ten-year grassroots movement led by Back to Belmore, which was formed in 2005 to fight for the iconic facility's survival and restoration.

Sunday's match against the Sharks is expected to attract another strong crowd, with fans encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the full Belmore experience. Kick-off is scheduled for 4.00pm.
