Back to Belmore Inc. yesterday appointed long-serving stewards Maria Bogoevska, Deanne Gomes, Rafael Gomes, Chris Kaikati and Chafic Mennah to its seven-member executive committee to replace Oltan Akdogan, Angus Jabour, Joe Karam, Tony Karam and Joseph Moses. The appointments were effective yesterday, announced by President Luke Cevolani at last night's Annual General Meeting.
Mr Cevolani said that the five new committee members brought additional skills and expertise to Back to Belmore's governing body. Their appointments were made using an independent selection panel chaired by former President Luke Brailey to select the best candidates for the positions after the five outgoing members had informed the committee last month of their intentions to retire at the Annual General Meeting.
"Maria, Deanne, Rafael, Chris and Chaf bring enormous experience to the Back to Belmore executive committee and will all make valuable contributions to the organisation." Mr Cevolani said.
"The new committee members represent a broad cross section of our thriving community and better reflect the social and cultural diversity of the Canterbury-Bankstown district."
"We're very pleased to welcome these five distinguished advocates to the committee. Their leadership and community focus will also be tremendous assets." Vice President Steven Cataldi said.
Messrs Cevolani and Cataldi were re-elected unopposed as President and Vice President, respectively.
